Handmade Gifts

A very good friend, Michelle May of The Raspberry Rabbits, who has been mentoring me on starting my blog, gave me a wonderful handmade gift. I think the best gifts are ones that are made by the giver. Just to know that they put effort and time into a one of a kind gift is just so heartwarming. Here is a picture of the quilted stocking she made me. I hung it up above my dresser that I have in the dining room with pictures of my parents on it. I think it looks perfect there. I may leave it up all year.

Chicken Ice Cream

Let me preface this by saying that my husband had a massive stroke back in 1996.  He lost two-thirds of his right brain with the stroke.  OK, that being said you think I would be used to his "observations" by now.  I bought some Drumstick Ice Cream, you know the kind that comes in a cone with nuts and chocolate.  Well this was in a regular ice cream container with the bits and pieces of the Drumstick in there.  I fixed some for dessert tonight and sat down to eat it.  Here is how the conversation went:

David (my husband):  What are you eating?

Me:  Ice Cream.

David:  What kind?

Me:  Drumstick.

David: (short pause and then very seriously) Does it taste like Chicken?

Me:  (thinking)  REALLY?

MERU

It's a rough life being one of the office cats.  So much to do in so little time.

IMPERFECTIONS

I have been known to put things off quite a lot.  I feel things have to be perfect and the timing just right.  Unfortunately sometimes Thank You notes don't get written for months and then you wonder if it is just too embarassing to even write them.  Well, I have been putting off starting this blog but I am going to just jump in and start.  I read a quote somewhere that says to the effect that it is the imperfections in art that makes it unique and all yours.  I really believe that.  If you look at the work of any artist or writer they have their own style and that is what makes it theirs.  So here I start, impefections and all.  Come join me in my journey.
